Chilled Avocado Soup/ Last Minute Cold Soup Roundup

The weather has been a weirdly beautiful this  August in NYC.  We only had a few weeks of unbearable heat and humidity (back in July).  August has been sunny and not too hot and only occasionally a little bit muggy.

Little Almond Cakes with Fresh Raspberries (Gluten-Free)

Hmmmm.  It is really not baking weather anymore here in NYC, but maybe this recipe will be just the thing for someone who lives far, far away from here. Clafoutis and Financiers are pretty much my two favourite kinds of

Salmon Marinated in Spiced Yogurt (grilled or baked) with Rhubarb Chutney

I’ve been having a big craving for spicy, hot food.  We’ve been eating lots of spicy chickpea pancakes and bhel puri with very spicy green chutney.  This salmon dish does not have to be super hot, but if you use

Raspberry Rhubarb and Almond Tart (Gluten-free or not)

I’m sorry that this post is coming so late in rhubarb season.  I spent a long time testing different versions of this tart before posting it.  In fact, I have made  four versions in the same number of weeks.

Sweet and Smoky Chipotle Seasoning Paste- And a love letter to my Texas friends

Good Mexican food is still not that easy to come by in NYC.  For years, I got around this sad culinary situation by working (and eating) in Texas as least once a year.  Sadly, this summer marks two years without

Blueberry Slump with Hazelnut Ricotta Dumplings (Gluten-Free or not)

Soon I will be going to British Columbia to visit my sister and mother.   I am looking forward to picking blackberries, eating salmon and making this desert for my family.  It makes good use of some very classic BC ingredients.
